This is the end of my 20th year as an educator. It also marks of the end of the Commercial & Digital Arts class being
in the same studio. We're moving next door into our brand new, state of the art classroom where we'll be able to
work more magic. New setting. New vibe. New projects. New everything.

The idea that change is the only thing you can count in is true. We're changing buildings. We're becoming a new
school. We're welcoming academic teachers who will be supporting our trade classes. We'll have a student
population that is mostly 9th grade and who want to be here.

This year, the big change was the new class called Design For Gaming. Two thoughts after teaching the inaugural
group. 1) Gaming kids can be just as creative as anybody else 2) Teaching gaming kids is a new ball of wax in many
ways. You think different and require a different approach. Kept me on my toes. This year, more than any other, in
all my classes, I saw creative people shine... I saw mediocre designs become good designs based on feedback you
gave one another... I saw my classrooms completely overrun at times by interfering technology like headphones and
phone devices. If you could just see what you're doing to yourselves... I saw students step up into leadership
roles... I saw upper level students blow off assignments and let themselves earn an F... I saw 9th grade students
get industry certified along with many others... 13 to be exact... I saw many new students try meditation for the first
time and enjoyed it. I saw student internships and guest speakers and student organization competition and our
student artwork out in the community doing its job... I saw a curriculum take shape in the Design For Gaming class...
I saw students take advantage of opportunities afforded them. That's a good sign. I enjoy teaching and take
seriously what I am charged with providing students. I look forward to many more years of helping students find a
bit of themselves and realize their potential while challenging them along the way.

Kudos to the first Design For Gaming students! Kudos to the 35th Class of Commercial & Digital Arts students!
